Squeeze Theme | By Unique Blog Designs

Squeeze Theme Introduction from Unique Blog Designs on Vimeo.

Squeeze Theme is the latest blog theme from the guys at Unique Blog Designs, who are the designers of some of the top blogs in the world, including the one you are reading right now.

Squeeze Theme is a premium theme for the WordPress blogging platform. Its purpose is to add significant additional functionality and scope beyond what the basic WordPress install includes. Here’s a video that explains the key features –

In Squeeze Theme’s case, its purpose is to augment WordPress so you can use it as a tool to create “squeeze pages” (or namesqueeze pages), which are pages that focus on capturing an email address of the visitor so you can build your email list. You can also use Squeeze Theme to create sales pages, and standard blog and blog magazine layouts.

Bear in mind Squeeze Theme is not a custom theme in the sense that you buy a certain blog layout style which you can then change or use as is. In this case you’re getting a tool to create lots of different types of websites more easily using the tools that Squeeze Theme provides.

The idea is if you are not a coder or designer you can buy a premium theme like Squeeze Theme and it makes it easier for you to create all the different pages your online business needs. Instead of having to play with the code, you get an easier to use back-end interface to control all the different elements like style, color, layout and design.
How Much Easier To Use Is It?

I spent a couple of hours playing with a demo version of Squeeze Theme so I could get my head around how it worked.

My first impression, which has been a consistent experience for me with every premium theme I have ever played with, was one of confusion.

In order to offer lots of customization power you have to offer lots of options. This is why when you first log into the Squeeze Theme control panel you are overwhelmed. Expect to feel lost and not sure what to do next.

Squeeze Theme Control Panel

I immediately started to play with all the options to see what changes what, but if you’re not the type who likes to tinker to learn, you can follow the many how-to videos provided by the Squeeze Theme team to show you how to use their latest platform.

There’s a members resources area with the help videos, a support forum and more tools to help you get the most from the theme. There’s also a quick start guide to help you take the first steps to begin using the theme immediately, and a course called SqueezeCamp, which is a 12 week training program you can optionally purchase (available to the first 150 people only) to learn how to really get the most out of the theme, build an email list and make money from your blog.

I’m going to be completely honest with you though – you’re not going to instantly be able to understand how to use this theme. You will need to learn through studying the videos and playing with the options until you understand what controls what. I’d say you would need to commit to at least a few hours of practice before you will feel even basically comfortable with how it works.

It also depends how comfortable you are with control panels as to how quickly you become accustomed to the theme. If you play around with the WordPress control panel already, have some basic HTML or CSS skills, then the Squeeze Theme options will not take long to grasp. If you’re advanced, you will enjoy the high level of customization options Squeeze Theme provides, so this is definitely a theme that’s accessible and relevant to all user groups, except absolute technophobes.

The only group of people I caution is if you are completely computer illiterate. If you don’t know how to use something like Gmail effectively, buying Squeeze Theme is not going to suddenly allow you to build a perfect blog or squeeze page. There’s a learning curve here and for some people you’re just not meant to be a blog designer, no matter how good the tool is. If that’s you, hire someone to do your blog and squeeze pages for you, and if necessary, they can use Squeeze Theme for you, to get things done quickly.

Ultimately though, what Squeeze Theme does best is allow you to create small pages that are designed to capture an email address.

Driving Traffic To Your Website

Internet Marketing requires you to sell other people’s products or services.  If you have decided to create your own product, you sell your own products in this case. But whether you are selling your own or others, we need to drive tons of traffic to our website. But what is most important is not just getting traffic, but targeted traffic.

In the early days of my internet marketing career, I learned about many techniques on traffic generation. Not a lot of the software and services offered to me had good effects.

Listed below are the three traffic generation techniques that I found most effective:

* Linking

Linking can be by either paid or unpaid methods. Adding links in e-zines or in other websites are some examples of paid linking methods. Make sure you need the traffic from that source before buying advertising space to make the most out of your money. For ezines, make sure they have a good number of subscribers before you advertise.

One of the unpaid models is through article marketing . You may need to create many articles but it is proven to be beneficial in the long term. Make sure the content that you create add value to your target visitors.

* Pay Per Click (PPC)

If you have some advertising budget, it makes sense to put it in pay per click. In this advertising method, you create an advertisement like in the classified section of the newspaper and bid on the keywords that you would like to target. This takes time, energy, persistence and money  and research unless you know the google secret loophole by now. I would advise that you read your affiliate programs and pay per click rules before doing pay per click.

* Search Engine Optimization

This involves targeting a particular keyword and optimizing your website for that particular keyword. You may have to outsource the optimization of your website as this may be time consuming.

These are some of the effective ways to get traffic to your website.

When you hear the term “internet marketing“, what do you think of?

For many, that term conjures thoughts of websites or spamming or search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing. For others, it’s all about graphical design, writing fancy code or even affiliate programs. All of those answers correct, but the essence of internet marketing is much simpler.

At its core, internet marketing is about these things:

* Understanding the target market to which the product/service/cause you’re marketing will appeal
* Determining exactly how your target market interacts with the internet
* Positioning your content on the internet to attract the attention of your target market
* Collecting information about your target market (also known as “leads”) for follow-up and conversion into sales
* Design of offers or incentives to induce the desired actions from your leads

Since there is insufficient space in this article to give all of these topics adequate attention, let’s focus on just one specific topic with the realm of internet marketing: Email Marketing.

My best payoff has always come by focusing on permission-based email marketing. Permission-based email marketing refers to the practice of collecting information (including email addresses) from website visitors and communicating with them via e-mail with their direct consent. The “permission” aspect of permission-based email marketing is what separates legitimate email marketers from the spammers that everyone despises.

My love of email marketing is strong for one reason: It works very well. Email marketing has been much like a never-ending goldmine: It enables us to produce income on demand simply by sending a good offer to our list. When you have thousands of loyal subscribers – as we do – and you put a strong and compatible offer in front of them, income becomes nearly automatic.

However, the key to successful email marketing is the development of a legitimate trust relationship with your subscribers. If you opt to send your subscribers a request for purchases every single day, they will likely tire of your badgering and cease reading your emails altogether.

Alternatively, if you take the time to provide good content to your readers on a regular and frequent basis, you’ll discover that your readers take all of your emails far more seriously, and as a result your emails will be opened, read and acted upon with greater frequency. Essentially, email marketing is really an exercise in trust.

While there are many more aspects to internet marketing than just permission-based email marketing, email has definitely been the cornerstone on which our business is built.

It’s like getting the theme song from The Bridge on the River Kwai stuck inside your head. A blog can be your best friend, or your worst nightmare. If used in “moderation” a blog can be a benefit to your bottom line, but beware, blog are addictive.

It’s easy to get caught up in your blog and lose focus on your core business goals, so here are 5 simple ways to make your blogging life easier and more successful. So put down the proverbial blog crack pipe, and remember the blog is there to serve you, not the other way around! Blogs (or Web Logs) aren’t new, but they have become a fast mover in the world of web design and search engine optimization.

A blog is a website first and foremost, with a small twist. It usually has a neat user interface that anyone can publish their latest news, product updates, whimsical thoughts, technical specifications, customer service/FAQ information and more. You can use a blog for just about anything you can think of. The more creative you are the better. There are plenty of low-cost or free ways to get started blogging.

WordPress, Blogger, Easy2Blog, B2Evolution and more are all free. I’m a WordPress guy myself because I dig plug-ins, but if you don’t know anything about programming I would suggest Blogger (Google) or Easy2Blog (easy as the name suggests). The Ways to Improve Blog Performance are more for those of you who have are using publishing software such as WordPress. So here we go (remember, a blog is a website). Content There are plenty of ways to get content for your blog. It’s best to keep it relative to your topic.

EzineArticles and GoArticles are great places for free, syndicated articles for your blog. Just be cool about it and remember to cut and paste the text or code exactly as it is and give attribution to the writer (the author link). Simply syndicating everyone else’s articles isn’t enough, you need to add your own viewpoints. Try and write one a day, even if it’s not 500 words or more. Be careful. It’s easy to become obsessed with adding content to your blog. Spend more time on adding content on the front end (when you’re building the original blog structure) and then simply commit yourself to 10 minutes a day writing at least one post for your blog.

It’s easy for a BLOG to become a BLOB that your reader’s will soon turn away from. Categories Set up and manage several different categories related to your “topic”. You can publish the same article into different categories. Example: if your blog is about Search Engine Optimization you may have 5 different categories (plus the main category). Your categories could be –

  • On Page SEO,
  • Off Page SEO,
  • Link Building,
  • Directory Submission,
  • and Site Design.

Not every article or post will be relative to each category, but some will overlap. Don’t go crazy and put every post in every category every time. You’ll lose readers and value. Blog Search Engine Optimization There are a series of tools/plug-ins that will help with search engine optimization for your blog. DagonDesign has a great plug-in for WordPress and it’s free and easy to install. Having clean URLs for your posts is extremely important.

When you post an article about “Choosing Colors for Your Website” you don’t want your post URL to be www.blahblahblog.com/?=ID1234 . In WordPress, for example, you want to at least choose the built in selection “Date and Name based” (click “Options” then “Permalinks” in the Dashboard view”). If you feel comfortable and are a bit crafty you can create a custom permalink structure. If you want to have a blog making money all you have to do is learn the basics of blogging to make money. It is rather simple and easy but you have to make sure that you have a passion for writing, otherwise, earn money blogging will not be an option for you.
